Maricopa County Boosts Heat Relief, Storm Readiness

In 2025, Maricopa County in Arizona implemented a series of measures to reduce heat-related incidents during the summer. Maricopa County Public Health funded 24-hour heat relief sites, which helped lower the number of heat-related deaths for a second consecutive summer. Nearly 8,000 Lyft rides were provided to help residents reach cooling centers, and teams distributed more than 21,000 water bottles along with 309 cases of electrolytes throughout the county.

During the monsoon season, the Flood Control District of Maricopa County and Maricopa County Emergency Management coordinated their efforts to respond to heavy storms. County staff monitored rainfall and stream flow continuously to facilitate rapid response when emergencies arose, ensuring support for affected communities.
