Tempe Council Results Updated, Unofficial Counts Released

As of 5:30 p.m., Maricopa County Elections released updated unofficial results for Tempe's May 19, 2026 ballot-by-mail city election, with about 200 ballots remaining to be cured and final results due after Friday's curing deadline and the Tempe City Council canvass on June 4; Ballots cast were 24,131 with a 28.99% turnout, led by Brooke St. George with 12,750 votes (29.02%), Bobby Nichols with 11,514 (26.21%), Berdetta Hodge with 10,403 (23.68%), and Jennifer Adams with 9,262 (21.08%).

PHOENIX — Fire crews responded around 2:45 a.m. to a debris fire at a recycling transfer station near 51st Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road in West Phoenix, upgraded to a first-alarm response with a defensive strategy, using ladder trucks with elevated master streams to achieve significant knockdown and working with on-site staff to break apart large debris piles with front-end loaders and extinguish hotspots; no injuries were reported and investigators remained on scene to determine the cause.
