Akron Fire Department to Compete in Smoke on the Water
The Akron Fire Department said it is gearing up for the annual Smoke on the Water challenge in downtown Cuyahoga Falls on June 20.
The department said the event will test firefighters in an “ultimate firefighter skills relay” against other local fire departments. Competition starts at 2 p.m. Organizers said the event will also include live music, games, and food trucks.
The post said the Firefighter Challenge League is sponsoring three spots into the Northeast Regional Classic Firefighter Challenge in Akron on July 23-25, 2026 for the winner. It also said both events are free to attend.
The Akron Fire Department posted that it will be with Cuyahoga Falls Fire Fighters Union Local 494 and thanked Cuyahoga Falls Firefighter local 494 and the Firefighter Challenge League.
