Arcadia: Phoenix’s Historic Citrus Neighborhood Revived
Arcadia, a long-established neighborhood in Phoenix, has been part of the city’s history since the early 1900s. The area stretches from north of the Arizona Canal to south of Camelback Road, and from 44th Street to Scottsdale Road.
Historically, the land south of Camelback Mountain was sold in 5-acre parcels at 35 cents an acre and was used for citrus orchards. The irrigation system that supported these groves remains one of the factors that contribute to the area’s demand today.
Residents value Arcadia for its access to quality schools, a robust neighborhood association, and proximity to both neighboring communities and downtown Phoenix.
