Maricopa County Garners 84 National Awards

Maricopa County celebrated its achievement in winning 84 National Association of Counties awards, recognizing the efforts of 19 county departments. The awards acknowledged work in a range of areas, from evacuation zone remapping led by the Emergency Management team to innovative community programs at the Perry Library. Each department presented award-winning programs focused on county operations, public health, environmental services, and more.

The Assessor’s Office received recognition for modernizing operations by migrating from Salesforce, while Correctional Health Services was awarded for initiatives in inmate health services and recruitment of correctional nursing staff. The Elections department was recognized for its talent attraction efforts, digital outreach campaign, and training programs for poll workers. Enterprise Technology and Innovation earned awards for projects including an IT financial management dashboard and virtual assistance for employees.

Other departments received awards for improvements in public service and emergency response. The Environmental Services Department streamlined mobile food permitting procedures. The Flood Control District was highlighted for its process mapping initiative and a campaign protecting flood control structures. The Human Services Department received multiple awards for projects addressing homelessness, housing voucher uptake, and community programs. The Library District was noted for programs in digital collections, crafts, and pet de-stress initiatives.

Additional awards were given to the Innovation Studio for customer experience research, the Attorney's Office for public safety campaigns, and Public Fiduciary for projects enhancing guardianship case analysis. The Public Health department received recognitions for programs in emergency staffing, digital dashboards, infectious disease control, and disease surveillance. Finally, the Risk Management, Sheriff’s Office, and Superior Court departments were acknowledged for initiatives related to water conservation, behavioral health response, remote jury selection, and various probation programs.

Maricopa County officials highlighted that these accomplishments contribute to improving services and the quality of life throughout the county.
