Maricopa County Approves $30M for Detention Officer Pay

Maricopa County supervisors have approved a $30 million compensation package for detention officers employed by the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office. The package includes one-time bonuses of up to $25,000, retention pay extending through 2028, and efforts aimed at recruiting and keeping experienced personnel.

Chairman Thomas Galvin stated that the vote represents a first step toward increasing the overall compensation for highly sought-after positions within the sheriff's office. Sheriff Jerry Sheridan noted that the measure is intended as an investment in the future of the department's operations.
